The 2020 bocce season was a success. The plans for the 2021 season are a work in progress. We are currently planning the leagues for the 2021 season. Covid rules will be updated per state mandates as time progresses. Last years rules are below:
1) Court usage will be limited to no more than 10 people at any given time. To facilitate this we will be closing court 4 for the time being. Given that court 4 needs the most work, we thought it was the logical choice to take out of the mix. This of course leaves courts 1-3 available for play.
2) Reasonable cleaning procedures will be implemented to maximize safety.
3) We will be working with BPR‘s marketing department to post clear signage regarding the new safety guidelines.
While masks and gloves are highly recommended, BPR has no formal requirement for their usage at this point. This could very easily change in the near future though. Our initial focus therefore, will be on making sure we maintain the correct level of social distancing and limiting our numbers in the court area to no more than 10.
Important
Adhering to these procedures is the only guarantee that our courts will remain open. Parks and Recreation has a responsibility to monitor our efforts, as does the club itself.
Having the courts closed for non-compliance would be heart breaking.
Club Membership
This year‘s club membership form is now available to download by clicking here. Joining fees have been reduced to $10 for an individual and $20 for a family.
Doubles Leagues
We are still hopeful that we can put together a modified league schedule this year. League directors will be reaching out to last year‘s team captains for feedback and to gauge potential participation.
Work Day
Current restrictions will also require us to approach our traditional workday a bit differently this year. Lew White, who has volunteered to look after maintenance issues, needs 6-8 volunteers to work on a couple of maintenance projects to bring our courts up to speed. The first gathering of this small task force will be next Saturday 5/16. Please let me know if you’re available to help and I will pass your name on to Lew.
